Are you sure it is grub damage? To get some idea make a cut into the turf similar to this [_] and peel back the sod and count how many grubs populate the area. 10 or more per square foot does indicate a problem, 5 or fewer per square foot is not a problem.

It was mostly because I notice that last month there's been quite a bit of digging in the yard by something at night. The neighbor next door said he was having the same problem.

Due to the drop in temperature, the grubs may not be at the surface any more? I was dethatching earlier in the month and notice some sod worms.

I suppose adding more water couldn't hurt? It's not like it rained lately.

I too have something, not squirrels or turkeys, digging in several places, sometimes fairly deep holes (and inch or two) but most often just scratching the surface. The grubs, here, have not yet moved down deep into the soil. The few I find are still in the top two inches, unless those I find are really dumb and do not know they are supposed to be deeper. Average temperatures here are still in the 60's so the soil temperature is not yet that far off from what it was during the summer.
