Hello all,

This fall I purchased a few bags of leaf compost for my compost tea brew from my local garden center( I am unable to produce my own due to covenant regs). My question is, I have about 3/4 of a bag left,will this stay "good" through the Wisconsin winter, or will it be useless come spring??

What you have is a bag of microbes and some left over microbe food. In the winter the microbes go do sleep. Leave the bag in the cold and you should be in pretty good shape next spring. Then moisten it and use it as quickly as practical.

The application rate for lawns is 1 cubic yard per 1,000 square feet. If you have about 2 cubic feet left over, that will cover about 75 square feet. Or you can continue to make compost tea with it.
