Parkinson's-Rotenone connection

My husband was recently dignosed with Parkinson's disease. In researching online I learned something that gardeners should know. Use of Rotenone, a plant derived insecticide has been linked to Parkinson's. I don't believe that is the main cause of my husband's condition as I also learned that exposure to low levels of Carbon Monoxide are also implicated and he has been a diesel mechanic for years, working in a poorly ventilated building. Still we used Rotenone for years before we decided to use only Bt, diatomaceous earth, dormant oil and Jerry BAker type products (soap, beer, cayenne, baking soda etc.) along with hand picking and a reliance on beneficial insects. Just another reason to be cautious with all insecticides. Dorothy
