RE: Time to plant poppies

I am using my wood blocks fast and I am going to sprinkle poppy seeds as I remove the wood. I got a big truck load of oak blocks from the saw mill so that ground has been covered all last year ( chunky mulch). I expect Bermuda to invade but the poppies will be done by then. It will be a good wild place for poppies.

Is it too late to scatter seed for poppies ? I received some breadseed poppy seeds as a bonus in a seed exchange last year and forgot all about them.

And Sandy, I enjoyed your blog on the subject.

No, it is not too late. Everything is late this year.

Don't think it's too late. Poppies need a cool season to germinate and we are certainly getting one for a while yet. And thanks for reading my column, everyone!

I like that I get two chances to read it. I save the Real Estate section but if I don't get it read, I can come here.

Well, i wanted to be sure and broadcast my seed in December....here's hoping. Though, we got *another* darn snow now....

Thanks, Helen! And if you miss it in the Globe, usually my blog has the same article with more pictures and sometimes more text. I'm on a word limit with my column.
Here's yesterday's column, the Globe doesn't have a link yet.
