Christie did you find they took a long time to come up. I didn't record when I planted mine but it seems like they are taking forever. Today I have one up. I put an incandescent bulb in a lamp for heat and aimed it on them and the next day one is up. Yesterday I bought two bags of onion sets at a little grocery store. They had yukon gold seed potatoes. Yesterday was cold and wintery. Today I can see that it is almost time for those.

The date to plant the earliest things on your calender was Feb. 17. When I put in my zip it was Feb. 24 and Joplin was earlier.

You can start Kohlrabi Feb 1 for large bulb harvest by April 1.

I think their dates for starting tomato seeds was way too early for me.

I used to plant March 10 and would end up with tall, skinny plants....Now I do them the first week of April. Maybe I plant outside later than some...I don't risk a late frost in early May....May 10 or later is my date.

Violet - Where did you find that date for Kohlrabi? I'm finding a little bit of everything when I look on the web. A couple sites said to not start from seed more than 6 weeks before last frost and that if they become stressed or rootbound the bulbs won't form well. Another site says to plant transplants 4 weeks before first frost so they can mature in cool weather. I think I'll try that.

My Kohlrabi seeds have germinated already! My packet said 14 days so I wasn't expecting them for awhile. I checked them Friday afternoon and nearly every one had sprouted. I just planted them Tuesday.
