Getting ready for snow and ice....

I hope everyone is aware that we've got bad weather coming our way this weekend.
Time to look at protecting those plants that have had the good/bad fortune of coming up a little too soon because of our very mild winter.

I got four inches of snow. I wonder if it will rain this spring. I usually start seeds under fluorescent lights, and I have a few now under just one shoplight. If it isn't going to rain, maybe I should go in for desert plants of some sort.

What snow and Ice? That was over a week ago, and this is the Ozarks! Prepare for the excess, record high temps today!! I had almost forgot to check the new greenhouse yesterday and found it at 100 degs at noon, inside, and vented it emmediately. I spent most of the day working in the old garden greenhouse, so I had the doors open to keep "myself" cool. Because of the ultr-mild january, I had jumped the gun by a month and had planted all the tomatoes and Pepper seeds. Now I have 3-5 inch plants allready, and scurrying to find extra flats and pots to plant the excess seedlings in. Good thing that the first Fordland Swap Meet is coming up on the last Sunday of this month, Ill have a lot of Cole crop plants and even a few of the Tomatoe and Pepper plants to take. The 5 inches of snow we had several weeks ago, protected all the emerging outdoor seedlings like Peas, Favas, Lettuce and Radish, so it's sure nice to see some greenery in the main garden. How is everyone else's compost pile steaming? Strong
