bird feeding

I started buying hulled sunflower seeds at Wal-Mart but they eat them up fast and I am out. Last time I was in MFA I bought 50 pounds of corn chops for about $6. That is all I have on hand. It seems to be attracting plenty of birds but I am not sure it is good for them. I guess corn is better that nothing. I am just throwing it on the ground. I hope they eat it up before it gets moldy. With the temps tonight and tomorrow, I doubt that is a problem.

I'm out of birdseed but cleaned out my fridge today and found a few things that I thought hungry birds might appreciate. I really felt bad seeing them come to the feeder with nothing in it.

when desperate I offer dry cereal, Cooked rice and plain dry oatmeal. They're not crazy about this but it is all stuff the books had said was OK for out pet birds so I figure it is OK.
When we farmed, there were birds who gleaned the corn fields and city birds ate bread crumbs for years
I agree, something is better than nothing
