I appreciate that you don't try to keep your yard weed free. Ours certainly isn't. We wouldn't have time for the fun part of gardening (planting new things) if we spent all our time pulling weeds.
Do you have creeping phlox blooming there already?

Thanks, Christie! Yes, there is some creeping phlox. There just needs to be more, and the water company contractors managed to take out some of them so they need to be replaced. Haha I planted about a dozen and the squirrels dug up three of them already, I had to replant and put rocks around them.
