According to Roberts, the class will cover the basics of home food preservation and look at the equipment that is needed. The class will also have a hands-on portion so participants can move into the kitchen, roll up their sleeves and can green beans.

Participants will receive MU Extension guide sheets that include basic information for canning and include instructions for specific vegetables. Roberts will also discuss some basic principles for freezing food.

Advance registration is necessary and can be made by calling the MU Extension office in Greene County at (417) 862-9284 or by sending the attached information with a check to MU Extension, 833 Boonville, Springfield, Mo.
