Christy, those are awesome photos. Beautiful, but oh the damage. Hope things improve right along for you. We were lucky where we live--ice all around us--we got lots of rain, sleet, but the rain melted the ice away--just warm enough!! Bev

christie, I took pics of the ice, but somehow lost them. I do have pictures of the damage after the ice melted. It is just depressing to look at, isn't it. We have most of the clean-up done, but still have trees that should be removed. I dread getting a bid on them....it may have to wait for a while. Surprisingly my one redbud wasn't hurt bad at all, but one small dogwood just has two brances left...I couldn't bring myself to cut it down, but probably will have to. Susy, you are lucky. Lots of folks south of Springfield didn't get much at all.

Christie, your yard and mine look a lot a like. My favorite picture of yours was the last one with the ice on the limb and fences. I'm glad I took pictures as I think I was in shock at the time and couldn't see the beauty for the devastation. Here are some of my pictures. http://picasaweb.google.com/aniseb/BeforeAndAfterTheIceStorm I hardly knew I had neighbors before the storm but now we can see everything each other does. We've all cleaned up our property. My neighbor with the junk cars has gotten rid of them. ;-) When all the cleanup is done it will look like one big park area as there are no fences between us. It is a different way of living but we are adjusting.

oh christie, gladno and peace of mind, i'm so sorry for all the damage you had. The pictures were awesome. We've gone through this several years ago, even tho its not the same things do grow and fill in again. I've thought of your damage off and on and glad you let us know. Wish i could send you some of the oak seedlings i've got coming up everywhere. vickie

We drove thru that area on our way to Indiana a few weeks ago and saw so much of the damage for mile after mile. We went thru the ice storm of the century here at Christmas, 2000. It was terrifying hearing the trees snap one after another. I wouldn't even stay in the house because of the trees over the top. We spent 2 nights in the car and truck out in the open with the dogs. The damage was extensive and we were here for 8 days with no power and could't get out. All this to let you know how badly I feel for you. Our place has changed a lot since then.
