The irrigation project is all finished. I was a little nervous when I first turned it on but it works perfectly! Now all my gardens will be watered on schedule. William, I do have a back flow valve, and have installed couplings that will enable me to bring the valves in during the winter and drain the lines. James

James, mind if I ask questions? did you, if if so,what did you use--install header lines for the individual bed lines to hook to? Do you have raised beds? are the lines buried to each bed? Do you add compost/mulch to the beds each year?if not buried, do they have to be moved at that time? Is your feeder lines hooked to the water supply direct? underground?on a timer, or do you have to shut it on and off?
reason for so many questions, I'm trying, in my mind, to devise a watering system for mine--only thing, i cant get past having to still hook a hose to my header line. Thanks, in advance.

Ceresone, I buried a main 3/4" pvc line connected to the faucet that went to the automatic valves. From the valves, I connected 1/2" irrigation line that goes to the differnet gardens. I buried some of the line, but since I placed the valves close to my raised bed gardens, most of the lines are covered by a think layer of pine needles, I purposely kept most of the lines above ground so I could easily drain them in the fall before freezing. I added couplings to the valves so they can easily be removed as well. The irrigation lines connect to soaker hoses in my raised beds that can easily be moved. I do have a timer. I got a lot of my ideas and help from dripworks.com, dirpirrigation.com and mrdrip.com. Except for taking a lot of time trying to plan and optimize the system, I don't think it was too difficult.
