First Rose of the Season

This is Parson's Pink China rose. It is the first and also the last rose to bloom. I have had it maybe 20 years! I find that hard to believe. I cut it to the ground last year because a seedling tree was growing in the middle. The rose came back but so did the darned tree. I should have painted the stump with diesel.

Beautiful. Is it fragrant. Do you have to spray it? I have no luck with roses but love the old fashioned ones and the climbers. I do have Knock Outs and so far so good, but I love those with the cabbage shape and strong rose scent. Yours looks very healthy.

RE: First Rose of the Season

It gets nothing and is pretty healthy, but, no scent!

What few roses I do have all have wonderful scent. The two new additions are supposed to too.

Pretty color. I love how well pink shows up from a distance.
It's agrivating how tree seeds can find the tiniest spots to germinate in sometimes. Hope you can get rid of it without hurting your rose bush.

Beautiful! I keep reading chinas aren't hardy up here. Is your's in a protected spot?
