You have such pretty azaleas!
I finally got an azalea planted that I bought on clearance and then repotted. It bloomed really well in its pot this spring so I have high hopes for it. I mixed some peat and pine bark mulch into the planting hole. I don't know it that will help much. Do you usually amend your soil?

Here is another one. I can't grow azaleas; I have finally given up. Yours make me envious!

I did put peat moss in when I planted the big old ones and some on top later when I got peat moss on sale. It doesn't make a good mulch - you can't get it wet.

I can not grow the evergreen azaleas at all - every one I even planted died. These are deciduous.

photo 5242013springflowers009_zpsfd51ced0.jpgI don't count on these small ones living. I will have to remember to water in summer. I never forget my big ones that I have had for years; they get water first.

That last one sure is a pretty color. Kind of tropical looking. Surely this summer we won't have to do as much watering. I think I said that last spring too.
