All mine are sprouting at the bottom and haven't made much progress yet. I would water it and wait a little longer. The top probably is dead but you may get a sprout from the roots. We have had some cold weather here and it was dry until last week. Give it some time.

I was ready to dig mine, and replace when I noticed some leafing around the root crown. Now, after a few warm days, both my two dwarf, and the larger myrtle in the back yard seem to be recovering from our frigid winter.

I have one stalk with leaf out, the rest all coming from the roots. Will note that is is a dark pink variety, my white crape myrtles have no problem, went down to Branson the other day and all those look great too.

Don't give up yet! I have a couple crape myrtles that are just now putting on buds, on branches I could have sworn were dead. Scratch the bark a bit and if it is still green underneath, it isn't dead!

My crepe myrtle was dead. I let it stay until I returned from vacation a week ago. Still no sign of life so we cut it down and it was indeed dead. It was a Red Rocket and when I looked at the tag it said it was reliable to zone 7. I'm zone 6 so I'll look for a replacement that is more suited to my zone. I want a red one that is fairly tall.
