1000 Varieties of Daylilies Open to the Public

I realize it's after the fact, but it's always good to be informed (National Show info below), and there is always planning for the future... Besides, you can stroll the Daylily Garden in Springfield, Mo at Nathanael Greene Park.

"Missouri Moon' is one of the wonderful new additions to the more than 5,000 daylilies in over 1,000 varieties that make up the spectacular Daylily Garden in Springfield, MO's Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. One of 21 botanical gardens in the park, the garden should reach its peak bloom within the next two weeks. Until you can get to the park at 2400 S. Scenic Avenue in Springfield, you can have a good, close look at many of its most beautiful flowers here.

National Lily Show and Convention

The North American Lily Society Lily Show and Convention is being held now through Sunday, June 28 in Springfield, Missouri. The show will be open to the public Friday from 2-5:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. It happens at the Ramada Oasis and Convention Center at 2550 North Glenstone Avenue. Conference speakers include Richard Bayerl on "Gilding the Lily", David Sims on "Martisian Hybrids", Dr. Art Evans on "Experiences with OT Hybrids", Ed & Susan Giddens on "Propagating Lilies", Calvin Helsley on "The Universal Lily Hybrid", and Glenda Phelps on "Using Lilies in the Home". For times and additional information, call Glenda Phelps at (417) 881-7284.

Thanks for the info. I have thought about going to the park and sounds like now would be a good time. I have around 300 varieties of daylilies and last week and this week will be peak bloom for me-just in time for the local Red Hats to tour last Thursday. Need to update my Journal/Album with some new pics.

Susy, I had wondered about you! You need to post more often. I would love to see pictures of how you have planted the daylilies in your garden.

I just viewed each and everyone of your listings on Hortiplex.
You have some beauties. I enjoyed seeing how they actually look; sometimes the catalogs can be misleading.

Now, I am off to browse Wild's listings.

Thanks, Glenda. I was thinking about posting some pics but have forgotten how. I think I will have to read up on uploading again. I have also forgotten how to include more than one pic in a post. I turned 70 this year and realize I have forgotten a lot of things. (Grin) Help anyone and Thanks for any help you can give.

Susy, over on the Cottage Forum go to the gallery part and the second thread from the top is How to post pictures from Photobucket.

I do know the first step is to have the pictures posted online somewhere. I use Photobucket and Picasa. If you have anymore questions, just ask.

Susy - Your yard must be beautiful.
These are photos from Close Park so I will post them here.
Some are iris (I think) but I don't know what type. What are they?

Christie, when we went the daylilies hadn't started yet. I would like to get back, but may not make it.

This iris are Japanese Iris, I think.

It's that time again at Nathanael Greene:Close Memorial Park. According to the Daylily Society, this garden contains 5000 daylilies in 900 varieties!
