Yea it is a weed but until it gets ratty looking I allow it to grow. I like the furry leaves.

They are all beautiful Helen! and that background lawn looks very nice. My petunias are here and there and I have a lot of mixed colors which I love. (thank you).

That plant does look like a milkweed but I have saved many a weed and been fooled before.

I think it looks like milkweed too. You'll know when it blooms if it doesn't get eaten before then.

I was at Ozark Nursery today and got a load of topsoil. I also got three plants. Two are sedums a red one and one that has a purplish edge and A incarnata Cinderella. I think I am confused about my milkweed. I think the ones that lived through the winter are incarnata and that I probably got them at Ozark Nursery. The other one Asclepas c (Bloodflower) is not hardy and nothing came back where that was planted. The milkweed pictures I posted on the milkweed thread are the wild ones with wider leaves. Those are Asclepias syriaca or something like that. They have been described as thugs and they are because they spread and can compete with weeds. They smell good and are very buggy as in loaded with moths and butterflies and other nectar loving bugs.

That makes more sense, that it's a. incarnata that made it through the winter. Darn I was hoping you had an especially hardy tropical milkweed. My a. incarnata is five feet tall and blooming right now. Last year, they were seedlings and this year, there's plenty for the monarch's to eat. I haven't seen any on it so far though.

Thanks for the smile Ammarrocco. I hadn't heard of mullein being called "Cowboy toilet paper". I find wild ones coming up in my yard occasionally and sometimes let them stay around and bloom. I didn't know you could use the flowers for tea, although I have noticed that sometimes the blooms smell very lemony.
