Summer butterfly photos

My verbena bonariensis has spread into a big patch, several feet wide and it sure is drawing butterflies. I remember being disappointed with it the first year when I only had a few plants. The butterflies were ignoring it completely. Having them in mass must make a difference.

I took a picture of that cute and tiny pink moth and then realized it was only on my salvia Black and Blue plants. There is a tiny larva that eats the B&B flower buds before they open and I wonder if that's the moth they turn into. Not so cute now.

Also got a photo of the luna moth that was hanging around on our front storm door all day last week. That was quite a treat for us.

My Pink Delight butterfly bush is usually a big draw for butterflies too but it's just barely starting to bloom. It's getting crowded out by some other shrubs and doesn't do as well as it used to.
