wilted zucchini

I had a big, beautiful zucchini plant and watered it two nites ago and yesterday went out and it was all drooped on the ground........never to stand again. I thought heat but water does not revive it at all. I don't see any sign of squash bore.........wouldn't there be a hole or something?
No squash bugs. so I thought maybe a mole ate the roots off? any ideas I am not thinking about?

Pull the plant up and closely inspect the lower stem and root...I think you may yet find a tiny brownish slit or hole. When mine do that, invariably it is due to squash borer.
