Swallowtails and Zinnias

All those old zinnia seeds I planted this spring are bringing me joy now that it's August. I've been seeing numerous butterflies on those and also on my tithonia flowers. My butterfly bush isn't quite as popular this year but maybe because I have so many more zinnias than I usually do.

Pretty butterflies. I don't think I have that first one with yellow on it. The verbenia that you have in your meadow background picture should be loaded with butterflies. Mine is scraggly but I can't cut it back; the butterflies would be mad.

Great pictures! I can't catch any butterflies in the act. They are too fast for me.

They do seem to favor the zinnias. I was at Ash Grove MFA, and bought two packages for next year for $.50 each. Now I want to find just red ones.

They are practically ignoring the butterfly bushes.

Those are wonderful pictures.

Christie, your pictures are beautiful! It is hard to take pictures of butterflies. I plan to plant Zinnias next year, and I hope I get some butterflies.
