Looks like you have had butterflies too....have you ever sprinkled salt on the slugs. That's what Dad had us do to eliminate them.

I put ammonia on it, but I could not stand the thrashing around. It can't help being a slug. I put down a plastic bag and squished it to end the agony. One time I nearly broke my neck getting slime on my shoe. I don't see big slugs on my plants. I see lots of snails and smaller slugs. I was being stingy with the stuff I got from gardens alive saving it for hosta, but snails ate a marigold. I think they make lots of plants look ratty when I don't know what is doing the damage.

The first one is a Monarch I think. I don't squish either - the first one because it will turn into a butterfly and the second one because it will turn my stomach. lol I get grossed out just looking at the picture.
I haven't seen very many slugs in my yard this year which seems odd since we had so much rain in the spring. I have a LOT more frogs that normal so maybe they like to eat slugs.

I planted the milkweed especially for the first guy. I allow climbing milkweed too; it has small fragrant flowers and I love the smell- supposed to be a bad weed.

I love the cats or is it the same cat in both pictures. My cats would have tried to eat the slug. They eat any insects they can find in the house. It's like the slug is waiting its' turn to eat. How cute! We get a few slugs, but not many. Most are under the dog house.

It is Spanky in both. I didn't think the slug picture was flattering so I added the better picture of her.

When I lived in West Virginia I picked hundreds of slugs off my spiderwort each evening with long tweezers and drowned them in soapy water. I sometimes dislike the hot sun here, but I sure don't miss those slugs!
