Hosta

Well I did it. I took the plunge and dug my hosta up to raise them up in the bed. They were sitting too low.

They had been there almost 5 years. with heavy rain/snow off the roof and mulch/compost. they were sitting just slight below ground level.

Man oh man I sure was afraid to do that. They were so big and pretty. But w/all the rain etc they would have water sit at the crown, and not drain fast enough.

I always loosen the soil around them but this was different.

Anyway they were starting to get yellow leaves, not like w/fungus or heat etc. Just yellow. Well I did this 3 days ago. Started to loose more leaves, as I thought it would. But today It is looking much better. All 4 are getting new leaves and perked back up! hurray I didn't kill the hosta.

I was thinking if I left it until fall it would get fungus or something.
