Most of my hostas are not looking good now except for the Plantagenea (fragrant ones). Rot is dangerous for hosta. They may scorch in the sun and look awful, but they survive that. Bugs in my walnut tree are dripping honeydew on that bed. I should wash the leaves with soap. It is sticky and gets black mold on it.

Too bad you don't have a good insect to eat that bad one that is dropping the honeydew.
Yes my hosta have done so well for years. I just love them.
But they had too much water staying at the crown area. I really think they will be fine, they are looking better. Now I think this. Yesterday I thought I had killed them.
I don't have a problem with scorch they have a large tree in front that hangs over the house and bed by front walk. I don't like cleaning the mess from the tree in the spring and fall out of the gutters. How ever I would not be able to plant the hosta any where near the house if it weren't here.
