Hummert's Closed its doors

I had to call Schafittzel's to order a plant Thursday and in chatting with him about bedding plants, he mentioned that Hummert's closed its doors recently.

Thought I would give you local gardeners a heads up. I want to try Schafittzel's. Unfortunately they don't carry many supplies; just bedding plants and seeds. The are a very old family owned company, a real plus in my book.

I found out the hard way. I drove out there and the doors were locked up. I had called the local number and got a price on grass seed and the person I talked to didn't mention that the store was closed. The number transfers to Earth City.
Maybe they've learned a lesson about how important location is. They've moved twice and both times have been in hard to find places. It's a shame they've gone out of business. I'd really like to see them open back up. I think if they were on a road that actually had traffic and had a sign on the front of the building that said "seed store" it might help.
