I've got a couple of decent sized red buds in my front. I don't know where all of the others are coming from, but I bet I pull maybe 50 every year. Even the tiny ones have deep roots. I know they're pretty for a couple of weeks every spring, but I'm not a big fan of anything that seeds that agressively. The one in front does give me some pretty good shade in late afternoon, so I've kept it. But, if it dries out, it starts loosing leaves and looks awful. Some day in a couple of years, I'm gonna hack it out to let my native smoke tree gain it's full glory. The other one if the front was crashed into by a kid driver a couple of years ago. It grew back from the stumps and may look ok in a few more years.

I have had only one redbud in the yard for about 14 years and this is the first time I have had seedlings. I love that tree and have never noticed it loosing leaves prematurely.

I have been careful not to replant the kolreuteria though. Talk about self-seeding! They are nice trees if it weren't for that.

I transplanted 2 small redbuds from a nephews place several years ago and they bloomed for the first time this year. Some of their leaves turned yellow than brown during our heatwave but since it rained and got cooler they've greened up again except for the few brown leaves. Even my forsythia leaves wilted and they've never done that before.

Probably the redbud seedlings wont be any worse than the many oak, hickory,sourgum and cherry seedlings i have to remove every year.
