Does anyone know if Muscadine grapes grow in Missouri or are we too far north?

christie, did you happen to read the post by Annie on the Cottage Garden Forum where she was telling about a muscadine native grape of Ca. being named for her GG Grandfather? That is what got me interested in them. Supposedly they can be grown in Zone 6, but I don't know anyone who grows them. This website has them and talks about them.

Here is a link that might be useful: Muscadine and Scuppernong Grapes

I didn't see that but I'll read it. I don't usually check the Cottage Garden forum. I do check the Plant Exchange forum once in awhile and someone there was offering them for trade. I didn't know if they'd make it through the winter here though. Some may be hardier than others. I was thinking it would be nice if it was something that I could plant along the fence row and just let it grow wild but I doubt it.
