Transplanting tame blackberries

I have about 3 or 4 small tame blackberry plants we need to move. Does anyone know if we can move them now and keep them alive? They are in an area we are making over for a fire pit. I would like to move them now so the kids and grandkids can have a hot dog roast before the weather gets real cool. If we keep them watered - if it gets dry again - do you think they could be moved now or do we need to wait until the leaves drop and they are dormant? I guess it's not a really big deal if they do die as we have several more plants located just away from the pit area, but we would like to save them if possible. Thanks for your advise.
