Don't know if anyone is interested, but this article appeared in our local paper today.

DOLPH Â The September issue of Rural Arkansas Magazine

features an article about the Heirloom Seed Shop in Norfork.

"Heirloom seeds" are open pollinated vegetable and flower seeds

with no commercial hybriding or genetic modification. They produce

the plants that ancestors enjoyed.

The Shop is part of the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas

(FBNCA). Food Bank director Linda Finley said, "With higher

energy costs driving up the cost of food, I see gardening no longer

as a Âhobby but as essential for meeting the basic nutritional needs

of Arkansans, especially for those near the bottom of the economic

ladder who suffer the most when inflation hits."

Susan Varno of Dolph wrote the article and submitted the photographs.

Rural Arkansas is the monthly publication of the Arkansas

Electric Cooperatives, Inc. and is sent to their customers statewide.

Additional copies of this issue are available at the North Arkansas

Electric Cooperative offices in Mountain Home and Salem.

The Heirloom Seed Shop is located east of City Hall on Highway 5

in Norfork. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday (closed in winter

months) from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For questions, call (870) 499-7565,

e-mail foodbanknca@centurytel.net or visit heirloomseedshop.com.
