Oh Adams Countians! A few questions for ya!

My new/old farm property is north of Biglersville, east of Quaker Valley. I'm in the lowlands (stream runs through my property, 100 year flood plain) and there is an orchard close by on my road. What is the typical soil PH out here? Acid/neutral/slightly alkaline?

Why do I not see native American dogwood? I know about the anthranoce (sp.) disease, but we still had them cropping up in our woodland yard as seedlings in northern Virginia, zone 7. I haven't seen any at the woodland edges here.

What kind of deer fencing do you find to be most effective, yet not an eyesore? My neighbor says our woods are alive with deer, but I want to plant a large veg garden in the spring.

What type of evergreens will do well--any pines in that group?

Thanks!
