Wow. Here I am, trapped in my faceless office complex, and you get to walk with eagles. Wow.

Bob, I saw a young one Monday morning pecking at a roadkill deer in the field near Granoque as I drove to work. That's right alongside the Brandywine, and a couple of pairs nest nearby most years.

I'm near the Delaware River and I've never seen one here.

I was looking at that area on the map and wonder if they are living in Brandywine Creek State Park. That is about 1,000 acres with some water. Out here we have the Octoraro Reservoir where they live. I've seen 3 adults and two immature birds.

Seeing the adult Bald Eagles in the trees in back of my house is great. However, hearing their song is even better. It is a shrill melody and very powerful. You know it is coming from something large. When I hear it, I immediately look around for them. Its just amazing to see a Bald Eagle singing. I thought they were just in photos--until I arrived here.

We should have at least one more eaglet soon.

Well, that is nothing! Last year I saw two young bald eagles right here in Pittsburgh. I noticed a huge black bird flying over my head as I was watching some guys fishing on the Monongahela River in Homestead. Luckely I had my digital camera with me, and got a good shot. Later that day I had my grandson at the Bass Masters tournament in downtown. We attended a wildlife show that featured birds of prey. After the show, I showed my picture to one of the guys (a professor from University of GA.) and he knew immediatly that it was a young bald eagle. I guess that is proof that the ol Mon is getting cleaner if eagles can fish there. Since that day I spotted two flying in the same area.
