Anybody else itching for spring already?

Down to 3 degrees last night, we just barely made double digits as of noon (it's a balmy 11 degrees). My mantra is "This is good, the lilacs will bloom."

As cold as it is, I've failed my resolution yet again. Winter was supposed to be spent indoors, cleaning out closets and the garage. But when the ground wasn't frozen, I was weeding. When it is frozen, I'm collecting kindling. I've repotted nearly every houseplant, acquired 2 new cacti and 3 orchids. I said I would NOT start seedlings this year, I'd have to be satisfied with the perennials. 2 weeks ago I went into panic mode because I haven't been saving any kind of containers that I can use for the seedlings. Around that time, I went out and got about a dozen bags of mulch. Just 'cause it's winter doesn't mean you can't put down mulch, right?

*sigh* I have no control over this addiction!

Oh, I know!! Now that the seed catalogs are coming in, I spent the morning comparing different varieties and prices on the seeds I want to get.
I also have a stack of cardboard packaging material that would be perfect for starting seeds in. Even though I have no good spot to germinate them properly.
Much more fun than cleaning our closets.
I'm itchin to get some new flowerbeds made, and get the garden turned over. Phil is promising an early spring!

Too bad we all can't plant year round here. :/
I keep looking at the calendar each day, waiting for spring. So much for global warming.

I'm in green-withdrawal here, time to plant some lettuce under the grow lights. These 10 degree mornings with howling winds are really getting old.

In the meantime, I'm daydreaming about finally planting groundcover in the lilac beds. Maybe a tapestry of prostrate junipers, in groups of ten or more...

Oh, naturenut, I unfortunately can relate! I've ordered and traded all my veggie seed already, bought 6 new shop lights. Well, they were on sale! So what if I don't have any more room to hang them! I'll go get more wire shelving and go even higher with my makeshift light stands!

And then came 20" of snow and sleet, and even that didn't stop me! I shoveled out a path to the barn door, went into my seed -starting room (former tack room), and mixed big batch of my germinating mix.

And then I decided to brave the cold and snow-seed more wildflowers on the meadow I'm trying to make. And on and on and on. Yes, it is an obsession!!
