I prepped the bed this weekend and will probably plant next weekend if it warms up. I'm uphill on a southern slope, which I think helps moderate the chilly temps and allows me to plant a wee but earlier.

I'm not a huge fan of shell peas, but they're actually OK fresh out of the garden.

I don't pay as much attention to the temps as I do the soil. I would plant them today if the soil were not so wet. Right now when I gather up a handful of soil,it turns into a mudball. I always plant Burpee Sugar Snaps.

I did plant on St. Patrick's Day this year. I also have a (very slight) south-facing grade, and full sun for most of the day. The soil is damp but I've added a lot of composted leaves to it over the past couple of years, so it's reasonably workable already.
