when to set out parsley?

Was wondering when i can plant parsley out. It's been an early spring & i remember that my parsley last fall lasted well into the cold weather.
Thanks for your help.

If you have grown the parsley indoors, it probably isn't ready to face the cold outside. I would wait a month or so until you expect only light frost. Plants growing outdoors that experience increasingly cool temps in the fall are far more tolerant of below-freezing weather than plants grown indoors. I have not actually tried parsley this way, but I've had other plants killed by surprisingly light frosts. I'm not sure what the temperatues have been in Berks County lately, but it was 16 degrees F here in Centre County on Monday morning.

Parsley is biennial I think. I plant it and harvest it all season then let it stay over the winter in the ground. Mine id bright green and has about 10 little parsley leaves per plant right now. At the end of the year I will rip it out and plant more in '09.

As far as putting it out - I think I would harden ot off gradually - put it out days and in at night until there is no more chance of frost.

Good Luck!

I'm just a bit south of you in Lancaster county and we've had the Parsley out all winter in pots on our deck and it is now growing with a passion. If you give it some cover for a little while, like in a cold frame or cover with some clear plastic, it should be fine.
