I was browsing a thread about the Philadelphia Flower Show in which many responded to express their disappointment. One response indicated that the smaller PA flower shows may be closer to what the Philadelphia Flower Show used to be like before they got gimmicky (what with this year's leprechauns and all). She mentioned York and Allentown, maybe one or two others.

I live in Allentown, about three blocks from the Ag Hall which is the venue for the show, but I've never been. I had always just assumed it would be dominated by kitchy krafty stuff and that the plants are humdrum. Have I been wrong in my negative opinion of my own backyard? or not? If you've ever been to the show (I'm not even sure that it's called a flower show - maybe a home and garden show or something like that, or maybe there are two different events)- I'd be grateful if you would share your experiences. I wouldn't compare it to the Phila. flower show since they are completely different. But I had fun at the Allentown show. At Phily I always feel a sheep at shearing time.
