Sugar snap pea planting Question

Posted by paul316 PA (My Page) on

I have started to germinate A bush variety of sugar snap peas in doors. I used a moist paper towel and a root is just starting to protrude out of the peas(seed). This is the first time planting peas and I was wondering when i should plant the germinating seeds? How big should I let the sprouts get before planting them. I was planning on putting the started seeds into a jiffy pellet before planting. Any feedback would be great. Happy gardening!

RE: Sugar snap pea planting Question

Plant them now. You can use the jiffy pellets, I have used those before with seeds started the same way. BUT... I have noticed that those I start with peat pellets tend to get mold much more easily than those I put into plastic 6-packs filled with seed starting mix. If you do choose to go with the pellets make sure you have good air circulation, don't over water (shouldn't do that anyway!), and have some cinnamon on hand ready to sprinkle on at the first sign of mold.

Good Luck!
