They are not a good choice for this area. My neighbor had a long row plant and each one died. Remove and plant Arborvitae Green Giant - if you want a continuous row of the same plant,

I've had two Leyland Cypresses for about ten years. This winter, the ice storm weighed down the branches and then we got snow on top of that. Those branches that were covered in ice are brown, but they appear to be thriving otherwise.

Up until this winter, they looked beautiful, and I would not conclude that they are a poor choice for our area.
