Snowing like crazy here too. Everything is covered. All I could do is put a few planted pots inside the unheated greenhouse. Other than that nothing. I'm not so worried about the snow as much as the cold and wind coming in tonight. I think that's gonna do more damage.

I brought in the seedlings. They are sitting on the dining room table, awaiting more sane weather.

I took the tomatoes out of the cold frame and brought them in and put a couple of seedlings in winter sown pots in the cold frame just incase. Otherwise I left all of the other plants alone and they all looked ok this morning even though a thin coat of snow covered the ground and trees.

Thank goodness!! The sweet peas I covered are as green as they were when I planted them. THe lettuce in the cold frame is doing fine. Poor daffodils they all look like wilted lettuce. I'm surprised that the primrose bounced back with the little shot of sunshine this afternoon. As someone pointed out, gardening is not for sissys !

It wasn't the snow that did my daffs in. It was the heat and breezy days that we had. I wish it stayed cool like it was supposed to do in April. Had it snowed earlier we wouldn't have the problems that we do now. My cherry tree was already just about done blooming when the cold hit. So was the peach tree. ALL DONE. I usually have hyacinth until mid May, but not this year, the heat shriveled them up, too. I have some pix from a few years back when all of my spring flowers were just about covered in a snow around the 2nd week of April. It never harmed them at all. I'm telling you, a early heat wave is far worse than a mid spring cold spell. Oh, and my tulips bloomed too early also. What didn't get fried by the sun, got beat up by the wind. It is going to be a color-less May.
