The Quince I grew up with is a fruit tree, not a shrub. Flowers were pretty much apple flower like.

I have one in my back yard. You are welcome to a cutting or seed or however they are propagated. They are very thorny, so I don't know if I could dig a shoot for you. But next time I'm out there I'll take a look and see if it's possible.

I think the shrub I like is a Flowering Quince, not a Quince (which has fruit).

Thanks for the offer of a cutting, shadylady. I've just begun searching at local nurseries. With my luck, nobody will sell them. I always seem to be looking for plants that no one carries.

Sears Hardware sold Texas Flowering Quince last year. I bought two. They are doing nicely this Spring. You might try there.

Flowering Quince shrubs are sold at most nurseries, they're not rare. I have one called "Cameo" and it's a salmon color. Beautiful! (These flowering quinces do have little fruits on them, but I don't know if they're edible.)

I have started them from cuttings. I just use the hormone rooting powder when starting them. It works pretty well, I may get two to sprout out of 4 cuttings. I am trying to root the pink-flowered one now.
