creeping phlox in flowerbed

dfok

My garden is doing well, lots of bulbs and perennials planted over the years, but where there are plants there are weeds and some are hard to reach without stepping on whatever is about to come up next.

I'd like to plant some creeping phlox in the beds with everything else, I've read (somewhere) that it is a polite addition, growing around or allowing other plants to push through.

Is this true, or am I about to make a major error? I love the idea of a sea of green or color with plants popping through but it seems too simple.
