Hi Everyone , I finally am learning the right things to do with perennials and the garden is looking very well .

I have several astilbe planted in various area's , one area I noticed something is eating the tips on the branches . The Astilbe is about 1 foot high , so there are many lacy branches and whatever feasting on them is only eating the outer most tip portion . The new growth looks good , and it is not devoured so I should be grateful.

I hope tomorrow it is not gone ! This is my first year seeing it more established ..

What critter is out at this time ? Could it be a mole , vole ? don't they eat the whole plant in one night?

If it is a mole vole , will soaking tissues in peppermint , spearmint oil help?

I know mice go packing if they detect this ..
