Are bulb flowers more brilliant this year?

My tulips were exceptionally brilliant this year. Now my Irises are outstanding as well. I don't know if it's me, or if it could be due to weather conditions. Perhaps a really cold winter contributes to more brilliant color in the spring???

Has any one else noticed this?

Or maybe it's just that any color after our "mother of all winters" is especially appreciated. LOL
