Yep - I have Snow Queen clemmie on 2 sides of an arbor. One looks perfectly normal, the other is opening buds very early that look mutant:

I also had a clump of asiatic lilies disappear. Like gone. THere were 6 - 7 huge plants last year, this year zero. No sign of voles or anything either.

I think it is the really bizarre "spring" weather we had.

For many of us, this past winter our plants took a beating with the very unusual winters some of us had with warm weather followed by late freezes. They have what is more typical of drought damage but in this case was caused by the warm weather followed by late freezes. I have also seem more dead viburnum this spring. I am told there is a disease going around that is hitting some of the viburnum. Our snowball viburnum is almost dead this spring.

Yikes, a viburnum disease? I wonder if that's what happened to mine. It was budding up normally, then suddenly turned brown and died.

My witch hazel - Arnold's Promise. This would have been its third year, and it had lots of buds, but it never broke dormancy. I'm blaming the weather. It was way too warm during the normal bloom time, and when it got cold enough, the days were already too long. Now its just standing deadwood. I guess the way the *%%# rabbits girdled the bark didn't help any, either. So much for late winter color. (The crocuses were rabbit food, too.)
