Greenhouses south of Pittsburgh...

Is there anyone else out there, who lives south of Pittsburgh? I'd like to know the names of a few greenhouses...I'm a bit bored with my regualar ones and really dislike the plants from the big box stores.

A couple of little gems in Fayette Co. are Duda's in Republic and David's on S.R.#857, just outside Uniontown. Also, although larger, Martin's on Rt. #51. In Greene Co, there's Shield's and Douglas'. Does anyone know of any in Washington or Westmoreland Cos.? Thanks!

I haven’t been to this nursery yet, but one you may want to try. It’s Veychek Nursery in Irwin. They have a web site called Daylily Paradise. If you go, post what you think. Maybe it will save me a trip if it’s a disappointment.

My wife and I spent all day yesterday visiting nurseries.

I like Laurel Garden Center in Latrobe, they have a nice selection of plants..

Arona Road Greenhouse a few miles outside of New Stanton has a very nice selection of veggies, hanging baskets and annuals... A few perennials and their prices are the best I have found. They had a lot of varieties of heirloom tomatoes when I was there last...

I go to Stimmell's in Washington, Just off rt 136 from the beau st exit. They have a great selection, nice, bug free plants and they are reasonably priced.

I have a Greenhouse in Fayette and I carry hierloom vegetables and an assortment of unusual annuals & perennials. I sell out every year but you can email me for details for next year if you like.
