Carnage in the flower garden

The weird weather we've had in western PA this winter has really wreaked havoc on my garden. The buds are shriveled on the azalea, peonies, and most of the lilacs.

The daffodils didn't do too bad, but most of the older tulips didn't bloom at all. The rose bushes scarcely died back at all over the mild winter, but one hard spring freeze killed all the ever-bloomers back to the ground. They will probably come back eventually, but late. (Sigh.)

On the up side, last year was a very good year for the roses and most of the other flowers because it was so rainy that there were no late frosts. So I'm telling myself very firmly that you can't have a good year every year. Anybody else in PA have the same problem?
