I live in south central Pa and i was wandering if anybody has heard of the flower auctions around Shippensburg. I beleive the one is called Leinbach's. My question is if anyone knows exactly what days they are open. I was there a few years ago and I loved it. You can purchase plants for next to nothing sometimes. I know that they are only open a couple times a week, I just don't know which day. I hope someone might know here.

I don't know but am interested to find out. How cheap is next to nothing? Shipensburg is a bit of a drive, but if they really are that cheap it'd be worth it. What type of flowers do they have and what condition are they in?

Thanks for the info and the post.

If you are ever in the Mercer County area, visit Kraynaks Nursery. They grow a lot of their own plants right here in fields so you know they are hardy. But getting to plants real cheap, every year when it gets too hot to maintain them, sometime in June, they sell their flats for $ 5.00 each.!! I have seen a lot of marigolds and impatiens flats in many colors although they are a bit leggy by then. It's worth a call and a trip to Hermitage. Anyway you can also visit Reyers for 100's of shoes to pick from if you don't likethe plant selection.

I think it is Tuesday and Thursday, but something tells me during the peak season, it might be almost ever day....they have large number of items they sell in bulk...maybe a pallet of petunias, or boxes of begonias..get the picture...will see if I can find out more..I was there last year...Leinbachs and then up the road a piece to another produce auction...not sure if it is called Cumberland Valley produce auction or what..I am due to go again...better than the prices is the good food and atmosphere...it's very entertaining...

Did a search for Shippensburg Produce Auctions in Google and got several hits. I copied part of one site with phone numbers of Leinbach and CV Produce Auctions. Leinbach has flowers, plants, shrubs and tree also at certain times of the year. I think they would have some mixed in with the fruits and veggies now:

    Cumberland Valley Produce Auction
    Â 101 Springfield Road, Shippensburg, 530-5007.
    Â March through November
Â Fruit, vegetables, plants, nursery stock, pumpkins, potatoes, flowers.

    Leinbach Produce Auction
    Â 1120 Ritner Highway, Shippensburg, 532-5511.
    Â Fruit, vegetables.

Thank you. I thought it might be tuesday and thursday. Your right about the atmosphere. It is enjoyable. They do sell in bulk, like you said. What I did, last time I went, was buy want I wanted and had plenty left over to give my family. It is a whole heck of alot cheaper then the nurseries. I think I will go next thursday. I can hardly wait.
