| Lately my husband and I have been strolling around the flower garden for five minutes each morning, drinking our coffee and checking out the new blooms (because we get home too late each night to see them, sigh). Today while we were admiring the peonies and lilacs, with white roses and viburnum behind them, a ruby-throated hummingbird buzzed in very close to check out the nectar situation. It examined the roses for just a few seconds before buzzing away, but we got a pretty good look at it. It had an incredibly bright red throat.
A nice way to start the day. |

| wow carol, how incredibly nice. i too enjoy the early morning "patrol" and am amazed at the number of birds i attract to my yard. i just checked a book from the library to try to identify some i don't know, but i am patiently waiting, hoping and (somewhat) longing for a hummingbird. |

| I love my little early morning watering ritual out front on the porch too. You're lucky to have such a great garden! |
