Grass under my new deck

I just got a deck installed on my home. My problem is the guys started to build it before I had a chance to kill the grass underneath. Any suggestion on how to kill the grass and keep it from coming back. I have about 3-4 feet of clearance between the ground and the deck. I am 6'3 also. I am so mad at those guys for not waiting until I killed the grass , before starting to putting the deck down. But it looks good and my wife likes it. But the grass is my problem..

If you cannot put lattice underneath than a bed of gravel alwys works.With the deck that high up the grass will probably keep growing pretty far back.
