Sweet Corn fell down

| I planted two varieties of sweet corn, B&S and Kandy Corn, well the butter and sugar is doing great but we did have a windy week during the last and about half of my Kandy corn fell over right in the middle of the patch.
Of course we have not had any rain to speak of for at least a month although the garden has been watered good at least twice a week and the ground is not totally dry I think that may have something to do with it, the other thing is that the KC got really tall and I only see 1 ear per stalk.
One thing that puzzles me is the root system appears to be close to the top of the ground so next year me thinks I will plant them in furrows and then fill them up as they grow!

| Could a deer have knocked it down to make a bed? Strange how the flattened part is in the middle of the patch. I've got a single stalk of corn growing out of the manure pile by the barn, with three beautiful ears. It just appeared, I didn't plant it. Probably won't make great eating given that it's only feed corn, but I'm looking forward to the harvest. |

| Late reply, but I've had my corn fall over, especially after a straight-line thunderstorm went through. I took a bunch of twine and crisscrossed it around the fallen stalks and some bamboo poles, righting the corn. It all bounced back and the corn did fine. |
