I am on alderfer's email list for antiques auctions, so imagine my surprise when i rcvd THIS notice just now. Didn't know, but thought this sale might be of interest to you great Pa gardeners/GW people. if you do decide to go to this auction, you might want to find out from alderfer if there is a possibility that they will sell the entire stock to one outfit, because then you'd be wasting your time.

Plants, shrubs, trees and landscaping items will be auctioned at Alderfer Auction Company in Hatfield on Wednesday, July 19 beginning at 6 PM.

You can preview some of the stock to be sold this Wednesday, July 12, from 5 to 7 PM and again on Thursday, July 14 from 7 AM to 1 PM at the auction center at 501 Fairgrounds Road.

Special auction of plants and nursery stock at Alderfer Auction July 19

Hatfield, PAPlants, shrubs, trees, and landscaping items will be auctioned at Alderfer Auction Company in Hatfield on Wednesday, July 19 beginning at 6 PM. This auction is open to the public, and will take place at 501 Fairgrounds Road, rain or shine, with preview beginning at 1 PM.

The auction is part of a complete nursery liquidation, and will include more than 500 plants and shrubs, including many exotic specimens. More than 50 evergreen, shade, fruit and flowering trees, sized 1 ½" to 3" caliper, will be sold. Varieties of trees include Colorado blue spruce, dawn redwood, snow fountain cherry, weeping white pine, weeping pussy willow, Kousa dogwood, Thundercloud plum, Prairie fire crabapple, Kwansan cherry, maple varieties, Bradford pear, and more. Emerald green arborvitae, blue rug juniper, winterberry holly, crimson pygmy barberry, azalea varieties, rhododendron varieties, gold thread cypress, spirea varieties, butterfly bush varieties, lilac varieties, hosta, elderberry, potentilla, Japanese red and green cut leaf maple (specimen), and serpentine blue atlas cedar (specimen) are among the shrubs and plants included.

"While most people think of auctioning antiques or estates, AlderferÂs has been helping businesses liquidate stock, equipment, and real estate for nearly 50 years," said Lon Clemmer of Alderfer Auction & Appraisal. This particular auction will be of interest to home gardeners as well as professional landscapers and property managers. The following day, July 20, gardening tools, name brand mowers, snow blowers, and other power landscaping equipment will be auctioned as well.

Some of the plants and garden items will be available for the public to preview on Wednesday, July 12 from 5-7 PM and Thursday, July 13 from 7 AM to 3 PM. On the day of the auction, the entire stock can be viewed from 1 to 6 PM. The equipment and tools that will be auctioned July 20 will be available for preview on July 19 from 5-7 PM.
