Perennial sale at Styer's

Stopped by Styer's to check on fall bulbs this morning, and found they had just started a 1 week perennial sale, 'Half Off'. I bought a gorgeous plant of Helleborus niger for less than $15. The crown must have been 4" across, and was forming many bud initials already. It was labeled as variety 'Praecox' but I imagine it was just from seed of that variety. Still, a great buy in my books. Many other things I would like to have but no time to plant them.

They have new owners, and they didn't do their 'favored clients' one-night 1/2 price sale, back around the 4th of July, as in year's past. They also no longer do garden tours apparently. At this time of year, it's hard to find good stuff still available.

Sale is one week. Started yesterday (August 24) and goes through next Tuesday ( August 30).

I used to shop at Styers, but find their customer service to be unfriendly since the ownership change. I will stick with Waterloo. I only buy stuff on sale at Waterloo, but find their selection to be first rate, and the staff friendly, service excellent. Just need to wait for the 25% and 40% of sales they run on things every week.
