| Any reasonable way to determine what species a physalis plant belongs to? USDA states 6 species native to PA and several others in nearby states and this not counting the alien ones from non-US origins. Looking at the photos and botanical illustrations on the web, i can rule out P. longifolium and probably P. pubescens but thats about all I can say about them. They appear on occasion in my gardens and I leave them mostly as they have a nice leaf color and the fruit lanterns are cute. I like the plants and would like to know the species.
