Cold hardy palm trees

Are there cold weather palms still surviving in your area that I read about? What methods were successful for winter protection? Do you have any photos?

RE: Cold hardy palm trees

I've never really seen a palm growing up here in zone 7 although I just last week saw a pot of a dwarf Carolina palmetto (Sabal minor) variety in a local nursery which claimed it was hardy up to here. This looks like a palm in leaf but of course only gets about 3-4 foot high. I took this 'cum granis salis' as they say. LOL
